3v3 Tournament
On November 28, 2003 the Waterford Lady Warriors entered 4 teams into the annual SoccerZone Thanksgiving 3v3 tournament, known as the Gobblefest. The '94 and '95 girls teams collaborated to form teams for the event. In the end: we won some, we tied some, and well...you know. The goal was accomplished though. We had set out to get more touches on the ball, help build confidence in the girls by making them step-up in a small-sided game environment, and have a good time. Mission accomplished.
Breakdown of some of the rules:
Games are 25 minutes. Guaranteed 3 game minimum.
3 players on field, no goalkeepers.
Sub on the fly, players enter from midfield.
All kicks are direct. Kick-ins not throw-ins.
3 points for a win, 1 point for a tie, no points for a loss. Teams with most points in their flight move on to championship rounds. Awards for champions and finalists.
Cannot touch ball within the goal-box. If you touch in your own box - opponent gets a free kick at the goal. If you touch in your opponent's box - they get a goal kick.
